Sponsored Dancers

Julia Newton

Julia Newton

Julia was attending dance classes in her pram watching her Grandma who helped other dancers and aged 3 just got up and danced the steps simply from watching! Julia's Grandma was her inspiration to dance and supported her through lessons, shoes, dresses; and travelling to work-shops, classes and competitions. Julia was initially taught by Eileen Sprackleen who was part of an old time dancing school and had one of the top dance schools in Ipswich with her husband Jed Mallins. She joined DanceCrazy aged 12 and is taught by Simon and Heidi Cruwys. She has competed at the ISTD Grand Finals in Blackpool for the past 10 years. Julia was runner up in the junior gold star in 2008 and Under 35 Gold winner in 2009. She has competed at the Disco grand finals for the past few years as well. As an accomplished horsewoman Julia has also represented Dorset and Hampshire at junior level. Julia now 18 will be going to university this year to study choreography, dance and sport; she hopes to become a dance and PE teacher. We have sponsored Julia from the very inception of Spot-Turn Ballroom and pleased to continue to do so.

Justine Jarrold

James Tucker and Justine Jarrold

Justine started dancing aged 4 at the Hillary Bishop School of Dance & Drama doing Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Modern Dance. At 8 she discovered Ballroom, Latin, Disco and Rock n Roll
moving to the Jansu School of Dance. Justine now concentrates on Ballroom and Latin and has been attending the County School of Dance in Reading since September 2006; now trained by Anthony and Zoey Price from Reading and Jake Davies from Norbury.  Justine future plan is to become a teacher of dance to share her love of dance with others.  Her favourite
dance is Samba!

James started dancing at the age of 6 being introduced to disco dancing by his dance teacher Karen Day but after spotting the ballroom dancers at the other end of the hall switched immediately and has never looked back! James competes most weekends on the open circuit in Ballroom and Latin. James' current teachers are Karen & Antony Day, Lesley Dodd and Alex Ivanets. James formed a new partnership with Justine at the beginning of February 2010 and they have already shown to be a strong couple and achieved the final of their first Youth E.A.D.A Ballroom competition in April.

Gerard & Jasmine

Gerard Sami & Jasmine Saunders

Gerard and Jasmine both aged 8 have been dancing as a couple for just over one year and individually since the age of 3.  They compete regularly and did well at the WDC Amateur World Championships at Disneyland Paris achieving 7th place in the World Ballroom Finals; 8th in the World Latin Finals for the under 10 category and very respectable 13th place in the Under 12's Ballroom and Latin Finals. They are coached by Alex Ivanets and Lisa Bellinger at www.ivanlisa.com and by Claire and James Taplin at www.cjdancing.com. We are delighted to be sponsoring such a young couple and wish them well for the future.
